How to file Return through Income-tax portal by uploading .json?

Follow these quick and easy steps to file your return.

First, download the JSON file from your myITreturn account. Then, log in to the Income Tax e-Filing portal and upload the JSON file. That's all it takes to submit your return. For detailed instructions, follow the step-by-step guide below.

 

Step 1: Sign in to myitreturn.com. Click here.

Step 2: Select your member profile.

Step 3: If you have not added myITreturn as your ERI, the following screen will be displayed. Since your ITR has already been submitted click on skip now button to "Request OTP" on the next screen.

Step 4: Click "Submit ITR Now" to authorize myITreturn as your ERI and file your return directly through the platform. 
Alternatively, click "Download JSON" if you prefer to file your return through the Income Tax e-Filing portal. The steps for uploading the JSON file on the portal are explained in the following screens.

Let's now walk through the process of uploading the JSON file on the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
 

Step 1: Go to https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal and click on "Login" button.

Step 3: Enter your User ID (i.e. PAN)  here to proceed further

Step 4: Enter the password for your e-Filing account.

Step 6: Click on File Now

Step 7: Select your relevant Assessment Year (AY 2026 - 27), Mode of Filing, Filing Type, & ITR type.

Step 9: Attach your downloaded JSON file here

Step 10: If any error, it will show here. you can contact us at support@myITreturn.com if any errors or difficulties here.

Step 11: Complete your verification if validation is successful.

Step 12: Options to verify your return.

After the successful filing of the return, you will get an acknowledgement number. Update this acknowledgement number at myitreturn.com. 


STEP-1: Click on the highlighted link.

STEP-2: A pop-up will open, fill your Acknowledgement Number in that column and click on Submit button.
