Unable to complete your ITR filing?
While entering details of Advance Tax or Self-Assessment Tax in your Income Tax Return (ITR), you may be asked to enter the BSR Code relating to the tax payment.
What is a BSR Code?
BSR stands for Basic Statistical Return. The BSR Code is a 7-digit code used to identify the bank branch through which the income-tax payment was made.
The BSR Code forms part of the challan details used for identifying and matching your tax payment with your income-tax records.
Where can you find the BSR Code?
The BSR Code can generally be found on the tax payment challan or payment receipt generated for your Advance Tax or Self-Assessment Tax payment.
When entering tax payment details in your ITR, enter the BSR Code exactly as mentioned on the relevant challan or payment receipt.
Please refer to the image below to identify the BSR Code:
Important: Make sure the BSR Code and other challan details are entered correctly so that the tax payment can be properly matched with your income-tax records.
